Here at Oasis Estate Agents we believe it’s very important to reward staff when they do great work, this can be both verbal praise or tangible rewards. We’ve put together a list of reasons why it’s important to reward staff in your own business.
Happy employees are productive employees
If an employee is happy at their workplace then they’re on the side of the business they work for. They’ll want the business to be successful and to do well as this means they’ll be able to enjoy their job for longer. In addition to being productive, communication streams are improved and communication is a vital part of a successful business.
Company values
Showing that your company values hard work is great not only for the employee receiving the praise but also other employees can also benefit from seeing a co-worker being praised. In addition to co-workers, potential new employees and clients may also see this praise and it will shed a positive light on your business.
The little things
In recent years there’s been a lot of talk of marginal gains thanks to Sir Dave Brailsford and his work with Team Sky. Your business can benefit from this technique when small things are picked up on and praised. When employees are praised for doing them they’ll continue to do them. All of these little things can help contribute to achieving a much larger overall goal.
Build relationships
Praise is known to help build relationships. If you see yourself as a leader or a coach in your workplace then providing this reassurance that employees are working well with help to build the relationship between you and your staff.
Motivation
It seems rather simple but providing awards (both tangible and intangible) can be an excellent motivator for staff. It doesn’t need to be anything special, even just a little trophy or a small gift card for top salesperson of the week. It’s amazing how this can really turn someone’s agenda and help them work that extra bit harder. At the end of the week you could have a little presentation and share it on social media.
